The movie adaptation of The Division has found its director.

Stephen Gaghan is the man tasked with bringing Ubisoft's dystopian video game to the big screen.

Gaghan's most recent film, the Matthew McConaughey starring, Gold, will be released in Ireland in February. He previously directed 2005's Syriana, for which George Clooney won and Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.

He is also a well established screenwriter, having written the likes of Steven Soderbergh's Traffic and Rules of Engagement.

The Division is Ubisoft Studios' next attempt at making a successful video game adaptation. The Michael Fassbender starring Assassin's Creed, was the first release from the studio and has already been labelled as one of the biggest flops of 2016.

As was already announced, Jake Gyllenhall will be producing and starring in the film alongside Jessica Chastain.
