PlayStation 4 has passed the 50,000,000 mark worldwide
Three years after its launch, the PlayStation 4 hit a pretty big milestone yesterday.
At a press conference in San Mateo, California, Sony announced that they've officially shipped in excess of 50,000,000 units worldwide and had the largest Black Friday week since its launch, including both PS4 and PS4 Pro and PS4 Slim. The console's been helped by strong gaming sales, too, with Sony reporting a total of 369 million games sold from both its own studios and third party developers since launch.
This year also saw the launch of the PlayStation VR, with many industry insiders calling hailing it as a shift in console gaming into the future. With games like The Last Guardian finally launched and the likes of Mass Effect: Andromeda, Red Dead Redemption 2 and - of course - The Last Of Us, Part II on the horizon, it looks like the PS4 isn't going anywhere any time soon.
Will it last as long as the PlayStation 2? Who knows.
