It's the first twelve months of two new gaming consoles, so every games maker in the world is kicking things up a gear to show off what they can do with the new technology. On top of that, PC and previous-gen console owners are also catered for with some of below, so there is something for everybody to enjoy in 2014!

This list could've been at least twice as long - with some tough cuts like Dark Souls II, Bayonetta 2, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Hotline Miami 2, Star Citizen, The Witcher III, Project Spark and The Crew, to name but a few - but these are the ten games we're MOST excited about getting our hands on next year.

Watch Trailer
Why We're Excited? Thanks to the likes of Bioshock and Dishonored, steampunk is quite fashionable in gaming right now, and The Order 1886 combines that with an alternative version of Victorian London and werewolves. What's not to love?

TITANFALL

Release Date: March 13th 2014
Watch Trailer
Why We're Excited? Eh... hello? Did you not see the bit where you hop into a giant, Pacific-Rim type robot and go about wrecking the place? We think we're in love…

TOM CLANCY'S THE DIVISION
Formats: Playstation 4, Xbox One, PC
Release Date: Christmas 2014
Watch Trailer
Why We're Excited? This, as with Watch_Dogs (below), is an example of one of those games that seems too big and too intricate and just too amazing to be real, but here we are. The visuals look amazing, the level of detail is staggering, and the story of a borderline-apocalyptic New York is intriguing to say the least. We already know what we want Santa to bring us for NEXT Christmas.

WATCH_DOGS
Formats: Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, PC
Release Date: Summer 2014
Watch Trailer
Why We're Excited? You get to potentially control an entire city, from hacking ATMs and traffic lights to taking over entire train systems, whatever you need to do to survive, you can do it. Plus there's the actual story itself, which is pure sci-fi gold. We've been talking up this game non-stop since its announcement, and it's the game we're most excited about playing.
