It was only a matter of time really. And now The Beatles: Rock Band has finally arrived.
You would need to have lived under a rock not to have picked up a plastic guitar by now, so you should now what to expect from these games. If not, all that's involved is pressing the correct coloured button or beating the appropriately coloured drum when it scrolls down on one of the six strings on screen.
Many of the classic songs are available, with more available for download. Modes include quick play (pick a song, difficulty, and play), and story mode, in which you play songs from some of the most famous venues the famous four ever played. Each historical locations is beautifully recreated, and each song is accompanied by an equally sublime animation of the band that plays out in the background. And yes, these get suitably bizarre when you reach the Sgt Pepper's era.
If you're not a Beatles fan, obviously this won't be for you, but for those of us that are, there's nothing better than having a few friends around, each choosing to be either John, Paul, George or Ringo, and transforming your living room into The Cavern, as you pretend you're a member of the most important Rock Band in music's history.
