For those of you waiting patiently for a new installment of the Elder Scrolls, this may be what you're waiting for. Now, swords and sorcery have been replaced with guns and ammo. Mysticism has given way to quirky 50's science fiction and the monster of Oblivion are now cannibalistic raiders, super-mutants and feral ghouls.
So, unlike our lucky selves, back in the 50's the bombs dropped - those on the surface were either scorched, mutated or left living in squalor. Those few who made it to shelters live in underground vaults, which are run by overseers - tyrants.
The game begins with your birth and the sad death of your mother, the first few moments of the game are you, learning to walk, your tenth birthday, the introduction of your pip buddy (the device that will give you maps, missions and your inventory,) and your frantic escape from the vault onto the scorched surface of Washington DC.
Like Oblivion, the world is just rife with wrongs that need righting. There is so much to do and explore; like Oblivion, you will be playing this for months.
I can already see you smiling, the possibilities are endless.
