Pacific City is not a nice place to live. By day gangs roam the streets fighting with those who crosses their path and at night the 'freaks' tear apart anyone still outdoors. At least the citizens have the agency and it's superhuman agents to defend them, provided the player at the controls is actually bothered about minimising civilian casualties.
Crackdown 2 is the follow up to one of the more unique games initially released for the Xbox 360 after the console launched. There's not much of a story, hardly any cut scenes and little or no character development. The missions are fairly generic - go here, collect this, shoot that - and the graphics haven't changed much. Instead there's a litany of gang bangers and freaks to beat up, shoot at and run over and thousands of orbs which have to be collected, chased and hunted down.
This game is the sandbox adventure distilled and made for those who enjoy goofing off, and sometimes with their mates in co-op. After the gritty realism of Red Dead Redemption and even Grand Theft Auto IV it's a relief to play a sandbox adventure that doesn't take it too seriously. Now where's my map?
