Despite what Ubisoft say Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood isn't a fully fledged sequel - it's more of a filler between the last game and Assassin's Creed 3. The game takes place immediately after climax of the second game and the first hour feels very much like a 'What Happened Next'. The 'new' part of the 20 plus hour single-player campaign doesn't get going until two hours in when our hero Ezio Auditore da Firenz travels to Rome to take revenge of the Borgia family

Assassin's Creed is still visually compelling and arguably it does sandbox and crowded environments better than every other game available on consoles today - Grand Theft Auto included. The biggest addition is the love-it or leave-it multiplayer mode but what's on offer in the single player campaign isn't that different to the last installment. You do get to recruit new assassins and form alliances but the essence of the assassination missions and combat remains the same. Brotherhood doesn't advance the story-arch of the series very far either but when it looks and plays this good, who cares?
