From Sunday, August 10th to 17th, Ireland's biggest traditional Irish music festival will fill Sligo with the best of trad.

The schedule is chock-full with over 250 events - from pub sessions, to outdoor gigs, intimate concerts and gala events. The atmosphere on Sligo's pedestrianised streets is sure to be electric - a whole lot of music and fun is in store for the eight day Fleadh.

The 'Music Festival of Ireland' is a a competition for amateur musicians and over 10,000 people are expected to gather at the various event centres. The Senior Céilí Band Competition will mark the climax of the festival, with the winning band playing the Peace III gig rig with a free outdoor concert and céilí.

The Peace III rig gig, situated beside the the Garavogue River on Stephen St. will be the centre piece of the Fleadh where free music and performances with bands like Dervish will be staged. Other highlights include the Boróimhe and De Cuellar Suites at the Knocknarea Arena, Téada and the Máirtín O’Connor Band, who play the Hawk’s Well Theatre. As well as that, there will be loads of workshops, lectures and family fun.
