The annual AONTAS Adult Learners’ Festival takes place from the 23rd – 28th February. The theme of this year’s Festival is ‘Learning: A Lifetime’s Work’ and highlights the fact that learning takes place throughout our whole lives and not just in school or college.

During the Festival there will be open days and coffee mornings where you can get up to date information from your local Education and Training Boards about learning opportunities in your area, and there will be hundreds of free events taking place nationwide to promote learning opportunities for adults.

Museums, galleries and libraries will open their doors to learners giving them the chance to explore their collections and discover new ways to learn. Adults can use the week to take the challenge of learning something new - be it digital photography, social media, history or cookery.

Anyone interested in returning to learning can find out about learning opportunities through the AONTAS Freephone Helpline on 1800 303 669 or through their website OneStepUp, which is funded through the EU Lifelong Learning Programme.

The Adult Learners’ Festival opens on Monday 23rd February with the STAR Awards Ceremony for adult learning projects – where seven outstanding examples of adult education will receive their awards.
