Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds are set for 2 very special dates in Ireland this summer: Belfast's Belsonic Festival on Monday 20th August with The Enemy & a double headliner with Brit rockers Kasabian at Marlay Park on Thursday 23rd August, with special guests The Cribs and Maverick Sabre.
Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds have taken their 16 month tour all over the world this year, returning home this summer to play U.K. festivals, including the recent Isle of Wight show which got an amazing response. Now, after garnering a number one album in this country, they are coming to Ireland for this special Marlay Park show with friends Kasabian, along with appearances at Belsonic in Belfast and Britain's primary festivals & six more shows including London's Wembley Arena.
Kasabian took the world by storm in the 2000s mixing traces of Stone Roses, Primal Scream, Oasis with electro-atmospherics, releasing hit single after hit single, producing celebrated albums and becoming a hugely popular live act in the process. Led by swaggering lead singer Tom Meighan and charismatic founding guitarist and main songwriter Sergio Pizzorno, Kasabian have become one of the last true gangs in Rock n'Roll, boasting a huge, fiercely loyal following from the start of their career until today. Their brand of psyched-out electro rock has proved to be durable force, with their most recent album Velicorapter garnering the best reviews of their career and shooting up album charts all over the world.
Joining Noel Gallagher & Kasabian at Marlay Park are The Cribs, described by Q as "the biggest cult band in the UK" who recently released their 5th studio album "In The Belly Of The Brazen Bull" to critical acclaim. The Wakefield band, a trio once more largely recorded the album in New York with MGMT and Flaming Lips producer David Fridmann at his Tarbox Road studio. There were also further sessions at Abbey Road in London and with Nirvana and Pixies producer Steve Albini in Chicago.
London born, Irish raised singer songwriter Maverick Sabre has his name ringing round the world right now and rightly so. Recently described by Huw Stephens as a male Amy Winehouse and with Music Week declaring him the highlight of SXSW 2010, his gritty yet soulful voice is drawing audiences in and leaving them hooked. From Wexford to London, Montego Bay to Austin, Maverick has silenced crowds with his catchy lamenting social-political content. Rapidly rising from strength to strength, Maverick has been busy touring alongside chart toppers Plan B, Cee Lo Green, Snoop Dogg and The Script as well as collaborators Chase & Status.
This stellar line-up will be the biggest treat Irish rock fans will get all summer!
