The First Musical Comedy Club Launches September 6th at The Grand Social

The Grand Social teams up with comedian Sharyn Hayden to create Ireland's first ever club night dedicated solely to musical comedy, “The Fandora Club”. The club will play host to established, and upcoming musical comedians from Ireland and abroad on the first Thursday of every month, launching September 6th.
The success of the first Irish Musical Comedy Awards in April of this year, also hosted by Sharyn Hayden, was inspiration for the new club. "We were so blown away by the level of undiscovered talent out there when we launched the awards", says Sharyn, a former actors agent-turned-comedian. 'It shouldn't have been much of a surprise, given how both funny and musical we Irish are as a nation, but it has certainly prompted us to launch this regular club and provide a platform for that talent".
Father Ted/Kilinascully funny man Joe Rooney will headline for the launch, and confirmed acts for subsequent dates include Ding Dong Denny O'Reilly (Paul Woodful) and Paddy Cullivan (The Late Late Show house band).
Unknown musical comedians are also invited to perform each month, and voted through by the live audience to an Irish Musical Comedy Awards final in 2013. Prizes include €500 and a performance slot at the Musical Comedy Awards UK. To apply, upload a video of your talents to www.facebook.com/IrishMusicalComedy
Tickets for The Fandora Club are €6 and can be bought via The Grand Social website, www.thegrandsocial.ie or Tweet @SharynHayden
