Comedy Gig Fundraiser for ReachOut.com

Want to see four comedians for just twenty quid? What if I told you you could do so while at the same time support a mental health charity? Well, you can have your four comedy cakes and eat them if you come to The Sugar Club next Tuesday!

ReachOut.com is having a fundraiser and Fred Cooke (yer man off the Spar ads with the dopey face) is MC'ing! He will be introducing to the stage Jack Wise (read interview here) - the comic magician/magical comedian you may have seen at this year's World Street Performers' Championship, Eric Lalor - the likeable comedian from Ballymun who started his career on Des Bishop's Joy In The Hood (read his rant here) and Shazwanda - the heavily made-up and heavily pregnant Northside comedy diva.

Cooke will get the crowd laughing, with his wide-eyed, dishevelled looks and unhinged stage personality, before handing it over to Wise who will serve up his "speciality cocktail of comedy and magic, with a solid slice of sarcasm". His tricks will be sure to have the audience gasping.

"Warm and energetic" Lalor will follow with side-splitting stories about living in a disadvantaged area. ("People ask me is Ballymun really as bad as it's made out. I tell them it's like everywhere else - Ballymun has a two-tiered society. We have our Haves and our Have Nots. That's the Have Been To Jails and the Haven't Been Caught Yets").

And lastly, showing the boys how it's done, Shazwanda will take to the stage, telling us all about her life "Up The Duff" and belting out songs such as 'Bridge Over Manky Water' (referring to the Ha'Penny Bridge) and 'Only A Ginger Can Call Another Ginger Ginger' (a song about carrot-top intolerance which, being a natural ginge, is an issue close to her heart).

"ReachOut.com is a service dedicated to taking the mystery out of mental health, to remove taboos and take mental health issues out into the open. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to helping ReachOut.com deliver the best service it can to young people with something on their minds."

Come along to The Sugar Club, Leeson St. on Tuesday, 26th of July and have a good laugh while also helping a good cause. Event starts at 8pm and tickets cost €20 (which you can buy right here on entertainment.ie!)
