Kerry Comedy Festival - A Preview

Words: Ann Mehigan

After an extremely successful inaugural event in 2011, the Kerry Comedy Festival is back and rarin' to go! Tickets are selling quicker than you can say "3 Kerrymen walk into a bar.."

Taking place over 3 nights in 3 towns (Killarney, Tralee, Dingle), there’s comedy to suit everyone’s taste, if you’re a Father Ted nut, head along to the Father Ted Night in the Laurel’s Pub, Killarney starring Joe Rooney, Patrick McDonnell and Paul Tylak. Support Acts: Paddy Cullivan (Late Late Show Camenbert Quartet) & Ursula Burns (Winner of Irish Musical Comedy Awards 2012)

Free entry for anyone who dresses as a Father Ted character*

To blast the hangover away, you should walk the Ring of Kerry – its only 232 miles or something – you’ll be grand.

OR you could get the hair of the dog into ya and head to the Carlton Hotel Tralee, the super-hot (but super-married, I stalked him enough to find that out..) Jarlath Regan is MC for the night,
(see?) Carol Tobin and Sharyn Hayden doing it all for the sistas yo, and some stars of Savage Eye: Fred Cooke and John Colleary!

Pat Shortt closes the weekend on Sunday July 1st in Dingle – his new show "I am the Band" will be at the Hillgrove Hotel and he is supported by the hilarious Colum McDonnell.

The beautiful sights and people of Kerry with an aul bit of comedy thrown in? Sounds like a little piece of heaven to me.

*not really – just would love to see a pub full of dirty priests shouting "Arse/Feck/Drink"
