Christopher Guest and Chris O'Dowd collaborate for new BBC show

Comedy legend Christopher Guest has just started production on is new show for BBC Two, Family Tree. As we reported back in August, the man behind classic movies Best in Show, For Your Consideration and This Is Spinal Tap has come to this side of the Atlantic to work on his new improvised mockumentary style show and has called in the big guns in the form of Chris O'Dowd. Going back to his IT Crowd roots in a way, O'Dowd will play Tom Chadwick, a man who loses his job and girlfriend, and after receiving a mysterious box of family memorabilia from a great aunt he never knew, starts investigating his lineage in search of a sense of identity.
Known for constantly producing comedy gold in his own particular style, Guest's migration to the BBC is in partnership with HBO, so we're pretty sure there'll be no holds barred. “I am also delighted to welcome myself to BBC Television. I am very lucky to be working with an incredibly talented cast. Chris O’Dowd has been on my radar ever since he was a child actor in Wales.” Guest said, with Chris O’Dowd adding, “I’m terribly excited and monumentally under-qualified to work on an improvised show with Chris Guest. I call him Chris ‘coz we are friends. He calls me George. I don’t know why.” This is looking good already.
