The Departed

The Departed

Disappointing - Cascarino

5 Points

Viewer Rating:Cascarino has rated The Departed rating: 3 Star

The only reason I'm reviewing this film is in response to a review from Liam Kelleher, who gave it 1 out of 5. That has to be a joke because a real reviewer will try not to let his own personal bias get in the way of a fair review! However, I would agree with some of his key points, particularly regarding the performance of Matt Damon, which was very wooden, and the last 10 minutes, ridiculously telegraphed and incredulous. Again, I would agree with him on Leonardo Di Caprio, who really surprised me in this film and proved that he is probably, along with Will Smith (don't mock me people), the most versatile young actor in Hollywood. But the film itself is pretty good, albeit very over-rated. I don't agree with critics who have lauded the performance of Jack Nicholson as the malevolent crime boss, but would actually say that I was a little disappointed in Jack, who is my favourite actor. "The Departed" is just another mob movie and doesn't reach the heights that Scorcese has done in the past and hopefully will do again some day.
