The Devil's Rejects
dvd nasty - fredgarven
Rob Zombie's sequel to his debut House of a 1000 corpses reunites the family of pyscho's in a real treat for fans of nasty, brutal horror films. The movie begins with the police shooting the hell out of the Firefly house and leading to the capture of mother Firefly while Baby and Otis escape and meet up with uncle Captain Spalding. This is the kind of family that would have the family from Texas chainsaw massacre complaining to the residents association...nasty as hell. The film follows their journey and their pursuit by maniacal cop sheriff Wydell. The cast is a 'who's who of horror', Bill Moseley(Texas chainsaw massacre 2), Ken Foree(the original Dawn of the dead),Michael Berryman(Hills have eyes),Tom Towles(Henry) to name a few. The violence in this movie is not for the squeamish and is very brutal at times. The whole tone of the movie is very dark too so don't expect a bundle of laughs. Rob Zombie has done a great job here with a modest budget and given us a modern horror classic. It's not the most original idea in the world but at least it's original and not a remake. The movie also has an excellent soundtrack and the final scene is one of the most memorable uses of the Lynyrd Skynryd classic Free bird. Highly recommended if you want a nasty dvd to make you feel uncomfortable. Otherwise stay well away
