Although a completely fantastic film, it is extremely disturbing and upsetting.

The subject matter brought up throughout the movie includes rape, HIV/AIDS, domestic abuse among others.

The acting was superb, I can't say a bad word against anyone. They really captured their characters. It was scary to see some of the performances, particularly from Mo'Nique, who portrayed Precious's abusive mother.

I haven't read the novel Push, upon which this movie is taken from, so cannot say if it stayed true to the novel. Either way the script was fantastic and really well written.

My heart was aching for Precious as she dealt with everything - being pregnant for a second time from rape by an ex-partner of her mothers, trying to get an education and learn to read, and trying to get away from her current life.

Just when you think Precious is free to live life as normally as she can she is given more bad news, she is HIV positive, but thankfully her second child is not.

At the end of the movie Precious has succeeded in severing all ties with her mother, so despite all the hardship there is a small silver lining for her and her children.

Make sure to have plenty of tissues when watching this film. It will most definitely pull at your heartstrings and leave you fighting and hoping for Precious to get away from everything.
