X-Men Origins: Wolverine
They neutered Logan! - Bren
What a disappointment! This feels like a shoddy rushed effort, where the screenplay was hacked to pieces and the special effects where left in their preliminary state. We're given a glimpse of Logan and Sabretooth as children and in a impressive opening sequence we see them fighting in all of the US wars since. After that it loses any focus. The script is uneven and doesn't relate to previous scenes well, eg. Stryker forms a gang of mutants, Logan seems to bearly do one job with them yet when he is reunited with members years later, there's a sense of a lot of history with the "old gang". As is there was a lot more to do with this group's antics that was cut out and zero amends to the script were made. The one job we see the group pull off involves killing a lot of people just so they can ask a crimelord where he got his paperweight (a lump of admantanium) he tells them no problem and doesn't see the big deal... probably no need for all that killing then huh? There's a lot of that kind of stuff, that makes you go "wha?!" like where Gambit is last seen unconsious on the ground and a few seconds later is seen hoping on the rooftop only to jump down to where he was unconscious (did he sneak off to run back and make a big entrance) And the effects are shoddy, there's a scene with Wolverine looking at his new metal claws in the bathroom and they look like cartoon claws, Roger Rabbit stuff and some awful greenscreen work in the motorbike/chopper scene. Just the one thing a high budget comic films should be able to pull off, good effects. It's a big ole mess, Sabretooth is pretty one dimensional and Hugh does his best. The final visual design of Deadpool is pretty cool though. Overall, for me it stank.
