Sex and the City: The Movie

Forced to watch this one with my GF, probably never going to get a good result but I would like to complain about the title, there's feck all sex! Next up is the running time, its says 148 min but I'm sure I was watching it for at least 4 Days! I got up and went out to the shop at one point came back 10 min later to find it still at the same point in the story and thats where it falls down, the story. Theres absolutely no substance to it whatsoever and it doesn't do the the feminist side any favours at all. This is girl power in the Spice Girls vein with a not particularly good message behind it (a big wardrobe and a man is the key to happiness apparently) Rather than a story its one clothes change after another after another which I'm sure looks very good if you like that sort of thing, What little story it has is perplexing, absurd and infuriating all at once with a main character so self absorbed she could be a roll of Bounty. Obviously the main items I consider to make a good film (car chases, explosions, hand to hand combat, loud music, etc.) were missing but so were other more vital things, like a plot, substance and characters. If I were to give it a grudging complement, I could say that the photography didn't seem too bad and I'm sure the wardrobe budget was similar to the special effects budget in Star Trek so it was at least colourful but if your principal hormone is testorone and not oestrogen then it might be worth taking a long meaningful walk while its on or cutting the grass or unblocking that downstairs toilet or babysitting a teething child or.....
