Comedy crap! - Suasn - Cork
I didn't like this film!! I know I know!!! Don't harass me!! But seriously!! The story line was good! But the comedy element was very few and far between! Ok! So its about 3 separate actors, for me that's Jack Black, Ben Stiller and Robert D J. These three play the parts of actual actors, jack black a play on Eddie Murphy's Nutty Professor (I think!!), Ben Stiller having made the actor's suicidal feux pas in actually acting “retarded” and being shunned by the acting world and Rober DJ playing a Broke Back Mountain based film but as a priest!!! Anyways! All three are cast in a doomed film directed by Steve Coogan, who basically can't handle the actors and has difficulty is getting them to do what he wants to do!! Ok! So the opening of it is good!!! As I have said I'm not knocking the story line which is good! Only the comedy element! So in a bid to get them to do what he wants them to do he takes them out into the wild jungle with Nick Nolte whom the film is “supposed to be based on” and tells them from here on in whatever happens is supposed to happen and that its all part of the movie! So when he steps away he gets blow up after triggering a land mine! All apart from Downey Junior think this is part of the film! But he is suspicious!!! So all hell breaks out when they actually come across real drug smugglars who take Ben hostage, and whilst the rest of them are trying to make their way back to the landing zone the end up seeing Ben being tortured and still under the misapprehension that its still the movie! So they set about to rescue him! NOW! All along the pilot who is a pyromaniac and the films bomb expert and Nick Nolte realise that something is up to and go back for them but get captured!! So Downey Jnr & Gang end up trying to rescue the whole lot!!! The whole film is set on ripping off other war movies!! I mean Platoon even makes an appearance!! So they end up all getting rescued! Whoopie!! To be honest I think the only one that played a good part in it was Tom Cruise!!!! And YES!! You have to look for him! But his character is fab!!! As its him that they smugglers ring to get their ransom!! I think for the high level of casted actors in this film it left a lot to be desired!!! Out of ten 5! And nope! I won't be buying the DVD!!!
