Robert De Niro directs this movie which tells the history of the early workings of the CIA in a long and what some have been saying boring film. its not, its great. Matt Damon plays a spy called Edward Wilson whose dedication to the job is eating away at him. The story flits backwards and forwards between Wilson's time at the CIA and fills in his extraordinary story. Wilson has a great love for his country and his job but he also has a major flaw and that is his own personal love life. He falls for a deaf girl ( Tammy Blanchard) but is forced to marry Clover (Angelina Jolie) a daughter of a senator. Then while on duty in Germany he has an affair with his secretary, with awful repercussions. The thing about Damon's character is that he gives away noting and therefore you do at times find it hard to care about him at all. But in saying that the performance is fantastic. This film takes its time and De Niro puts in a mystery that runs right through the film and doesn't resort to a cop-out. Well worth a watch.
