Persepolis is a straight forward story told in a simple way. It charts the maturing of a young Iranian girl and deals with politics, innocence and justice. The film is full of humour and surprises throughout. Many life lessons are examined in a non-preachy way and overall I think it succeeds on every level. It is without question one of the best animations in history. It can be sombre at times but negates that by daring to be different.
