Marley
Reggae Masterpiece - Linda
THis movie is a must for Marley and Reggae music fans. The cinematography is amazing. Anyone who like a good soundtrack and to chill out should go see this at the limited number of cinemas it is released in. It tells of the difficulties of getting a record deal. There is political commentary on the slavery apparteid and civil war in Jamaica. It is the story of Marley and how he brought peace, love and believed in the religion of the Rastafari. He was a true revelutionary and the director McDonald has succeeded in telling his story well.
It is a great documentary and history lesson for those of us not around in the 60s and 70s. The way the movie is put together is seamless with transitions between archived footage and interviews with members of the Wailers and Marley's family.
Marley's story is inspiring and even though tragic at times gives hope and the music is always uplifting.
Go see this and feel some Carribbean warmth in this chilly Irish springtime.
