A warm athmosphere with great acting - Eoghan Bolger
Like crazy is a romantic drama film directed by Drake Doremus, it stars Anton Yelchin, Felicity Jones, Jennifer Lawrence, Charlie Bewley, Chris Messina and is 1hr 29 minutes long. The story sees a woman falling in love while in America but a problem occurs with her visa and she is separated from her lover. The two begin the challenging approach of trying to make things work.
This film was a bit of missed potential and I am sure the trailer/hype surrounding it did little to avoid that, it isn't as emotionally involving as it could have been.
What it is however is solidly, naturally written, down to earth with a warm, fluffy atmosphere, theres an excellent chemistry between the two leads and their sensual, physical acting does a lot for the film.
There's a realistic feel and it's a story that plays itself straight, taking things seriously and centred around an adult couple. You could meet these people or know them from somewhere. What I thought was a pity is that the romantic rivals needed more scenes and some parts of the film, though it was generally engaging my attention drifted.
The people here faced believable challenges which made the drama credible and convincing. What Yelchin and Jones lack in charisma they make up for in great acting.
Theres a lot of stuff out there where the romance is only tacked on or is a device for a few laughs but in Like crazy it feels important.
