Footloose (2011)

I start this review by letting everyone know the only reason I went to see this last night was because i won a competition to see it and my girlfriend dragged me along.... honest! Anyway I must say I went in thinking it would be total rubbish, but it actually isn't too bad at all. This film is different than the usual type of dance movies that are out at the moment. With most of them you might aswell just watch MTV for 90 minutes, but like the original there is a plot there to keep you interested. It is very like the original and sticks as close to it as possible, which in this case is a good thing. You know the story already but those who don't, we see a city slicker who moves to the country to live with his uncle after the death of his mother. After a horrific accident a few earlier the town bans any form of dancing for people under 18 years of age in the area to keep them on the straight and narrow. But our main man loves to dance and so the rebel in him comes out. Corny I know but it is what it is. Let's face it footloose was pure 80's cheese and if was main now it probably wouldn't even get past production so all and all they have done a good job here. So lads if you have to be dragged to this one trust me it won't be too bad, just make sure it's your choice next time!
