The First Avenger: Captain America
Worthy build up - NothingMan
The Marvel universe has been seen through the eyes of almost every Marvel character we've heard of and at first I assumed Captain America was just a quick stop on the way to The Avengers and would be relatively substance free. I was also a little annoyed at the use of Chris Evans, as he already exists in the Marvel Universe as The Human Torch. However, any doubts I had were quickly subsided within the first 10 minutes. Chris Evans as the miniscule yet brave wannabe soldier, with the help of some very clever special effects, is loveable and you can't help but root for him from the get go.
The problem with Captain America could have been that he is out dated and could have came across as cheesy, however the film plays on this ans shows him as his cringe worthy, caricature of himself which makes it less comical and more action hero when he does take to battle. Over all it managed to avoid the many pitfalls that it could have fallen into and is definitely another Marvel success, if not as good as Ironman, but what could be?
Left me really looking forward to seeing The Avangers and I guess, as far as the studio is concerned, that's a success.
