Law Abiding Citizen
Not half bad - Eoghan Bolger
Law abiding citizen
Law abiding citizen is a thriller film directed by Gary Grey, it stars Gerard Butler.
It is 108 minutes long. When a man loses his wife and child to a murder he takes the law into his own hands, gets arrested and begins a plan to expose the problems within the justice system while also trying to get a detective to shatter his principles.
However while in prison the protagonist seems to be killing from captivity.
It is a shame that I hopped on board for this movie at its midway point, this is a film that requires ones attention from start to finish and from what I saw it made sure looking away not an option. This is taut, tense and suspenseful cinematic storytelling with a plot that's in constant motion. It's a movie that has you guessing, at the very least thinking through its runtime. Butler's character is compelling ,well acted and the film portrays him as part punisher, part Clive Owen in inside man, giving us a good idea of how his mind works, creating a smart, clever and engaging film that sucks you in. The ending gives off a very abrupt, shortchanged feeling however and really could have done with an extra ten minutes.
Best of all it never feels too convoluted or inaccessible to the viewer either.
A pity that it appears to be quit underrated.
If you enjoyed Inside man this one may be worth a look.

Gerard Butler's acting is surprisingly good for a man who usually plays chick flicks. However I can't help but think this is a little similar to the pretty recent TAKEN with Liam Neeson, they just... MORE

My first problem with this movie is that the "good guys" you actually really don't like and you really find yourself empathising with the wronged man who goes on a very creative vengeful murder... MORE
