The Town
Goodfellas meets Good Will Hunting - Tipkid
I loved it. I loved the introduction to the characters and place itself. Whilst all things Irish were thrown in our faces, from peoples clothing to bar signs to literative references I think as the movie progressed this disappeared as we became one of the guys and gals.
There was an undercurrent of charming humour throughout this movie for sure, perhaps it was only me but when 'Eskimo' was mentioned I chuckled and also in some of the scenes where Affleck is to woo his onscreen brunette, some of his lines are funny and of course need I mention the nuns.
The characters were well developed and I felt a real menacing tone when his brother in crime was on the screen - and naturally we all fell in love with out main man, even if he was a bad boy.
The action scenes are so well choreographed and I think some of the finest car chases of this decades films are to be witnessed in this film.
Affleck has succeeded in taking what is technically an unoriginal plot/idea and turning it into something more than bad guys on camera. two thumbs up!
