This film is very much like the Director Drew Barrymore it is good fun and likeabel without being brilliant or ground Breaking.Barrymore makes her Directorial Debut with Whip it based on the Novel by Shauna Cross.We meet Bliss played by Page who is 17 and just finds life becoming incredibly Tedious in her small town.Bliss works in a Diner and each day is like Groudhog day for her and when she gets home her Mother gives her a hard time as she wants to prove she is as good as everyone else.Bliss mother enters her in Teenage Beauty pagents much to Bliss Despair as she dreams out running away to somewhere better.One night Bliss discovers a roller Derby and decides she will enter despite the fact she is underage.Finaly Bliss feels like she belongs and as the other girls bring her out of her shell and introduce her to alchol and boys,there is a good supporting cast which includes Barrymore herself.This film will have you leaving the cinema with a smile on your face as it is charming and Ellen Page is excelent again this is worth watching.
