Refreshing but not wussy - Johnny Questions

5 Points

Viewer Rating:Johnny Questions has rated Pan's Labyrinth rating: 2.5 Star

This historical fantasy, possibly the first in the genre!, comes to us from Guillermo Del Toro, director of Hellboy and The Devils Backbone. Its set during the end of world war two in Spain, against the backdrop of teh civil war. A rich history is interwoven with a wonderful sense of innocence stemming from the main character, a six year old girl caught in the middle of the turmoil. As much as this sounds like a history lesson one wont be dissapointed as the little girl is transported to a fantasy world by a six foot fawn (half deer half man, but im sure you knew that!). I dont want to give to much away but suffice it to say, it gets weird, real weird. All the actors are incredible, especially the little girl, making the fantasy all the more believable. If only hollywood could make movies with a sense of wonderment. See it over anything else out at the moment
