A Christmas Carol (2009)
Brilliant, breathtaking and certainly for kids - Slick
Just go see it, but first tell your kids what the story of Scrooge is about-for them boredom comes from the use of Dickensian english. Look at kids tv-it's more scary, my 6 and 8 year olds just lost interest-and this is THE Christmas tale, so why, that must be questioned? Otherwise it's a beautifully 3D motion capture blah blah event of a movie, fantastical in cinematography and faithful to the original story. True that the message of the story could be more accessible now, but in time this will become the standard for that story - very hard for a filmaker to dance between Bambi and Call of Duty these days, and the latter is what your kid takes seriously. Times have changed from 20 years ago, kids know what's what-truth is the adult was more shocked than the kid. None of them are writing here. Adapt your mindset for the young of these times, and enjoy an utterely stunning visual cinema with an unsurpassed classic - or buy a Scooby-doo boxset on the way home and let them learn the hard way??
