Your obviously went into this movie not wanting to like it. How can you possibly give a fair review when the first thing you mention is 'ridiculous named friends'. Are you unaware of GI JOE? They ALL have ridiculous names. It's part of the gimmick. Second, this is a summer blockbuster based on a children's cartoon, action figures, etc. If you're expecting Die Hard, then you should stay away from theaters. Obviously you're entitled to your opinion, but why pick on Dennis Quaid? That's just ignorant. Joe was a decent action flick and it was never intended to be more. Too bad you know everything to be able to enjoy something as simple as this.
