28 Weeks Later..
This film will inspire more rage in its audience than it does in its characters - Eoghan Bolger
28 weeks Later. 28 weeks later takes up where the previous instalment left off, the virus has been mostly brought under control, people are returning to Britain and society is once again slowly but surely returning to normal. All seems well, that is until a survivor is rescued that just happens to be a carrier of the disease, sure enough the virus begins to spread once again and the American Army begins to take drastic measures. 28 weeks later gets off to a very good start, treating us to excitement from the word go, we feel prepared for a film that looks as if it may surpass the excellent original and a movie that has a greater sense of suspense, atmosphere, plot and consistency, along with a good scare factor. This however falls to pieces as the film progresses. While entertaining at the beginning the film quickly becomes repetitive and drawn out. Also present is a sense of nothing much has changed since the first film. The acting is competent if not as good as the previous film; Christian Bale's absence here is quite unfortunate and more than noticeable. 28 days later was a classic and a surprise hit, this sub-par sequel is far from that and may leave audiences looking their nearest fire exit halfway through. A good example of how not to make a sequel, the film ends on a sour tone that leaves a bad taste in the viewer's mouth knowing there will likely be a follow up in a number of years time. At the very least this is an ordeal. Verdict: **
