At this stage, we're hearing so many potential plots leaking from the set that we don't know which to believe and which are false.

However, we came across this one and believe it or not, we bought it. We'll set it up first with the usual preamble that there are POTENTIAL spoilers from here on out.

If you don't want to read about any The Force Awakens spoilers, turn around now and go back.

Still here? OK, good. Let's begin.

It's been reported by numerous sites that The Force Awakens will have a major plot point towards the end of the film that will, essentially, set it up for the next two films.

Long-time Star Wars fans will know that Han Solo, Harrison Ford's character, was supposed to die at the end of The Empire Strikes Back. He was meant to go into the freezing chamber thing, die and then Luke would come and be all mad and try to kill Darth Vader.

That, as we know, didn't happen. But Harrison Ford kept harping on about killing off Solo to Lucas, who simply didn't acknowledge it.

Well, it looks like Abrams did. Because the latest rumour going around is that.... (drum-roll)

Han Solo will die at the end of The Force Awakens.

You're probably asking yourself, why do we put such stock in this particular rumour? Lots of reasons. Firstly, Harrison Ford is SEVENTY-TWO. There's no way he's going to be able to sign on for two more films and however many potential spin-offs there'll be.

Secondly, he suffered a pretty horrific injury on the set of The Force Awakens that caused a lot of trouble for the production and undoubtedly messed him up pretty bad.

Thirdly, it's understood that he has a lot of scenes in this film, meaning that the next two will be about Luke and Leia. Each film will have an original castmember as the sort of centrepiece to it.

Fourthly, Ford's been itching to have Solo killed off since all the way back in The Empire Strikes Back so we think, most likely, Abrams acquiesced to his request and finally did it.

It's a pretty ballsy if this turns out to be true and it'll give all the characters the impetus they need to move the story forward. As for who kills Solo? Well, there's varying trains of thought on that one.

We'll leave that for another time and let this bombshell settle.

In the meantime, what do you make of it? True, false? Vote in our poll!
