We'll give you a hint: it's a lot. A LOT.

If you guessed somewhere in the region of $200 million, you're almost right. Per Deadline, The Last Jedi took in somewhere in the region of around $216 million to $220 million in the US alone - which makes it the second-highest box office opening in history. The first? The Force Awakens, naturally.

When tallied with its global box office figures, The Last Jedi has made a total of $450 million worldwide so far on its opening weekend and will likely carry the top of the box office for at least another week, if not more.

In spite of all this, the film has had to contend with some muted audience reactions. Rotten Tomatoes' audience score versus its critical rating shows a 40% gap between them, meaning that audiences preferred it significantly less than critics. Here on entertainment.ie, however, our audience rating has it at 4.2 out of a possible five, which is just below our own rating of 4.5.

Although the production budget for The Last Jedi hasn't yet been revealed, never mind the entire budget that includes the enormous marketing campaign mounted for the film, it's safe to say that the figures should keep Lucasfilm in the green for the forseeable future.
