Fresh off from an acclaimed supporting role in The Edge of Seventeen and starring in the upcoming War for the Planet of the Apes, Woody Harrelson is definitely doing well for himself.

Now the latest on the grapevine says Harrelson is up for a role in the Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Anthology Film.

The film will be set before Star Wars: A New Hope and Rogue One, and Harrelson is reportedly in talks to play a mentor role to the titular character Han Solo, played by Hail, Caesar! star Alden Ehrenreich.

Other confirmed cast members include Donald Glover, who will play a young Lando Calrissian, and Emilia Clarke as Solo’s love interest. The plot will focus on the early years of the notorious space smugglers and how they became ‘scoundrels on the rise’. The Lego Movie’s Phil Lord and Chris Miller are directing.

Harrelson already has plenty of experience playing mentor roles in the likes of The Edge of Seventeen and as Haymitch Abernathy in the Hunger Games franchise. While most of the cast gathered so far are ‘rising stars,’ the producers reportedly want someone with ‘considerable clout’ to play Han Solo’s mentor. We also think Harrelson’s demeanour and sense of humour would work well in Han Solo’s universe, so it’s a good fit.
