As Borat would say, 'it's sexytime!' From Fifty Shades of Grey to Lars Von Trier's new movie Nymphomaniac, the big S has been circulating the media more than ever lately. Is there something in the water or what's going on that has everybody so hot and bothered? OK so there's always been a taboo in regards to anything potentially sexualised but the flagrant wielding of sex as a form of mass entertainment, in film and bestselling literature, has been more obvious and extreme recently . Maybe this is a belated backlash against what was once unspeakable. After all, a shower scene with no explicit nudity in Hitchcock's Psycho caused censorship hysteria. Wonder what they would make of Von Trier's escapades...
Von Trier's aforementioned movie Nymphomaniac reportedly contains groundbreaking sex scenes. Hardly a move away from his other work in this regard then. The two part 'erotic' film will feature graphic scenes between cast members such as Charlotte Gainsbourg, Stellan Skarsgard, Shia LeBeouf, Uma Thurman, Willem Dafoe, Christian Slater and Jamie Bell, according to producer Louise Vesth. Well that's ruined Billy Elliot for us. Both Gainsbourg and Dafoe recently starred in the director's Antichrist, which as you can imagine was no butterflies and singing birds flick of harmony either. Clearly the actors have gotten a taste for Trier's shock tactics.
All of the hardcore scenes in this latest groundbreaking movie will use body doubles for the explicit acts, which will then be digitally-imposed with the actors' action. 'Above the waist it will be the star and below the waist it will be the doubles', confirmed Vesth. In other words, there will be actual real-live sex on screen arghhh Jesus, this brings out the shamed Catholic in us all.
According to Vesth and other insider information, this film pushes the boundaries in every way possible, with one distributor calling it 'like nothing [I've] ever seen'. Eh yeah cause there's nooky in it pal, and it's not porno. The world premiere will be held in Copenhagen this December.
