We're getting a new Mortal Kombat film and there is a big name attached

The first film was directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and hit right about the time that 30-somethings now would've enjoyed the shit out of it. Anderson did a solid job and ended up launching a career off the back of it with the underrated Event Horizon his follow-up film. He's worked pretty consistently ever since

Word now comes via Variety that Australian commercials helmer Simon McQuoid is in talks to direct a new film that will be produced by the extremely prolific Aussie director, James Wan (Fast and Furious 7, The Conjuring, Insidious, Saw). This is only a good thing and shows that New Line is serious about making this film and doing it right. Wan was attached a while back, but took his time finding the right director for the project.
