Sylvester Stallone has been teasing us aplenty for the much-anticipated sequel to Rocky spin-off Creed and his latest post suggests that the film could be hitting cinemas as early as next year.

To bring you up to date, Stallone first teased that Creed star Michael B. Jordan, who plays the son of Apollo Creed, Adonis, could be facing off his father’s former rival, Ivan Drago, in the Creed sequel.

The news has since been confirmed with Dolph Lundgren – who played Drago in Rocky IV – himself sharing a video of his training for the new movie.

Sly additionally confirmed that he’s taking over screenwriting duties for the new film by sharing an image of his notes for the screenplay.

This weekend, Stallone took to Instagram to post a photo of himself and Jordan from a Creed training scene, hinting that 2018 will be the year Creed 2 is released. “Getting stronger!!! 2018,” the post’s caption reads.

Stallone had previously said he’d like to start filming Creed 2 in early 2018, which would be a similar move taken with the first Creed movie which had a November 2015 release having started shooting in January of that year.

The only question is whether director Ryan Coogler and star Michael B. Jordan won’t be too busy with press for Black Panther (a Marvel movie set for release on 16 February 2018) at that time…
