If you were a fan of '70s and '80s police procedurals and detective shows, you're in for a treat with Mindhorn.

Taking a page out of the likes of Anchorman, Galaxy Quest and Three Amigos, Mindhorn follows an out-of-work actor (Julian Barratt) reprising his former role as a police detective with an eye that can literally see the truth, except this time he's overweight, middle-aged and trying to help the police on the Isle of Man catch a serial killer.

We spoke to director Sean Foley and writer / co-star Simon Farnaby about creating the character, its influences from Bergearac and The Six Million Dollar Man, wigs, and how Mindhorn is much more different than The Mighty Boosh.

Mindhorn is in Irish cinemas from May 5th.
