Watch: Tom Hiddleston reveals why Loki was cut from 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'

If you're wondering why Age of Ultron lacked everyone's favourite evil step-brother, take a seat.

Tom Hiddleston sat down with Digital Spy to talk about his latest movie, the Guillermo del Toro-helmed 'Crimson Peak', and in doing so answered a question that has been burning away at Avengers fans ever since Joss Whedon implied that we'd be seeing Hiddleston's Loki in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'.

Turns out Hiddleston did in face spend a day on set filming for the blockbuster but it ended up on the cutting room floor after stealing the limelight and confusing test audiences, saying: 'I was part of the dream sequence for the character of Thor. I shot for a day and enjoyed it very much. And then I received a phone call from Kevin Feige, basically Kevin said that in test screenings, audiences had sort of over-emphasized Loki’s role; they thought that Loki was controlling Ultron. It was imbalancing people’s expectations. So they said lets cut it because it's confusing people.'

So there you have it. It's interesting to hear it so bluntly and from the horse's mouth but it doesn't look like Hiddleston is too upset by being cut. We're pretty sure he's well aware how popular his character is, and it's not like he's not going to be in any of the upcoming Marvel movies so he's got nothing to worry about.
