For anyone who's read the original comic of Batman: The Killing Joke, you'll know that it's been ripe for adaptation for years.

For both Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger AND Jared Leto, The Killing Joke was a required part of their preparation. Truly one of the darkest stories in Batman's long history, the story saw The Joker paralysing Batgirl / Barbara Gordon with a single gunshot before taking degrading pictures of her, kidnapping James Gordon and parading him naked through a twisted fairground and taunting Batman with the truth that they are very much alike.

That infamous line from the comic makes it way into the trailer, "All it takes is one bad day," which debuted yesterday evening.

Recognise those voices? You should.

That's Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill, both of whom voiced Batman and Joker in the '90s Animated Series and the Arkham series of videogames, including Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. Sadly, Batman: The Killing Joke won't be getting a theatrical release, however it is slated for an extensive home release so expect to see it on shelves in the near future.
