Ridley Scott, Christian Bale, a biblical tale and a whole lot of eyeliner. Yup, that's pretty much all we get from the official trailer for Exodus: Gods and Kings, and boy does it look insane.

Starring Bale, a barely recognisable Joel Edgerton, Sigourney Weaver, Ben Kingsley and an as yet unseen Aaron Paul, Exodus: Gods and Kings is Scott's retelling of the Biblical tale of Moses and Ramses and the freeing of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt via the medium of several plagues and miracles at the hand of 'God'.

Up until this point we didn't know if Scott was going to go down the divine route but from the below CGI heavy scenes of frogs raining down on Egypt and the Red Sea racing around Bale and Edgerton, we guess that he is.

We know Scott can handle his old world epics, but Gladiator leaned more on reality than fantasy elements so we're a bit iffy on this one. That said, it's been a while since we've seen Bale in anything bad so fingers crossed his involvement will save this from drowning.

Exodus: Gods and Kings is set for release in Irish cinemas on December 26th.
