It's been a pretty incredible year for Irish film and we're only halfway through 2014.
Not only are the home grown productions finding an audience here in Ireland, but recognition is rife abroad. Hollywood and world cinema have to be taking note, which can only mean more big budget productions and more money for Irish productions heading this way. The latest from the folks at Wildcard Distribution (the ace Run and Jump) is called Gold and looks a belter.
Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams is the featured player here, while the rest of the cast is rounded out by the stellar likes of David Wilmot, Kerry Condon and James Nesbitt. IFTA winner Niall Heery directed and co-wrote the film.
Gold will be released in Irish cinemas this Autumn.
