It was the film that became a cult favourite when it caught the interests of poker players around the world.

Now word of a potential sequel to Rounders has been hinted at by none of than the star of the original film.

Matt Damon was asked on The Rich Eisen Show if a follow-up to the movie was a possibility.

Damon replied ‘we have talked about [that]’ and that there is ‘a really good idea’ for its story from the writers of the original - David Levien and Brian Koppelman.

The Jason Bourne star said the film has a lot of potential with the huge popularity of online poker now. He was interested in how the characters would fit into the game as it is now.

The 1998 movie starred Matt Damon and Edward Norton as friends and former hustlers. While Damon’s character wants to make an honest living, Norton’s cheating habits soon get him into trouble.

The film also starred John Malkovich as a Russian mobster. His line ‘Give that man his money’ is quoted by poker enthusiasts to this day (also Matt Damon’s impersonation of him is brilliant).
