Prepare to bask in glorious nostalgia.

The Irish Film Institute has today unveiled its collection of Irish television adverts archive which showcases TV adverts from the 60s, 70s and 80s. The Irish Adverts Project has seen the Irish Film Institute more than 200 hours of television adverts from decades past. The adverts were restored from almost 8,000 rolls of film.

The film rolls were salvaged by an painstaking process that involved frame-by frame assessment, extensive physical and chemical conservation, followed by scanning and digital restoration.

IFI Director Ross Keane described the material as 'critically important'

"We are delighted to be adding this critically important material to the IFI Irish Film Archive’s online collection. This project has been a huge undertaking for the organisation, and we are particularly pleased to be able to share the results with the public through our new IFI Player, which provides access to many parts of our vast collection to audiences right around the world, free of charge."

As part of the launch, part of the IFI foyer was decorated as a retro Irish living room.

From Cadbury to Club Milk, Avonmore to Calor Gas, there truly is a treasure trove of material for you to trawl through over at ifiplayer.ie/adverts
