Billed as being in a similar vein to 'Taxi Driver' and 'Drive', 'You Were Never Really Here' stars Joaquin Phoenix as an ex-soldier and ex-FBI agent who is tasked with rescuing a politician's teenage daughter from a brothel via any means necessary which Phoenix's Joe takes that down a very dark path.

Titled 'A Beautiful Day' in France, the Lynne Ramsay-directed film looks equal parts art-house flick and 'Taken'/'John Wick' style thriller, with Ramsay's previous works like 'We Need To Talk About Kevin' having obvious influences.

Here's the official synopsis:

A missing teenage girl. A brutal and tormented enforcer on a rescue mission. Corrupt power and vengeance unleash a storm of violence that may lead to his awakening.

'You Were Never Really Here' does not currently have an Irish release date scheduled but considering the hype it's getting, we hope it's only a matter of time.
