The first teaser for the third film in the Planet of the Apes reboot series comes in the form of a digital billboard.

War of the Planet of the Apes, which is a sequel to the 2014 film Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, is directed by Matt Reeves, who also directed Dawn, and stars Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn, and Judy Greer.

The poster depicts Andy Serkis’ Caesar materializing out of snow, and then getting blown away. Caesar warns, ‘You must go before the fighting begins. I’m sorry. War has begun.’

Earlier this week, some plot details for the new film emerged as 20th Century Fox released the following synopsis:

‘In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.’

Director Matt Reeves, producer Dylan Clark and Andy Serkis will debut an exclusive behind-the-scenes look and footage at New York Comic Con today so we might hear more soon. Watch this space.

War of the Planet of the Apes will be released in Irish cinemas on 14 July 2017.
