Charlie Hunnam really does like a good period drama, doesn't he?

He had 2015's Crimson Peak, Nicholas Nickleby, Cold Mountain and now he's got James Gray's The Lost City Of Z. Based on the incredible true story of Col. Fawcett, a British surveyor who believed that a major archaeological site was buried deep within the Amazon forest that could potentially point to a hidden civilisation there.

The story was initially turned into a bestselling novel by David Grann and, naturally enough, has now been adapted for the big screen with James Gray directing. Gray previously did We Own The Night with Jaoquin Phoenix and Mark Wahlberg and did some TV work as well.

Starring alongside Hunnam is rising talent Tom Holland, who plays Hunnam's eldest son, and Robert Pattinson, who plays one of the men involved in Fawcett's expedition. You've also got Sienna Miller as Hunnam's wife, and you've got Ian McDiarmid, who people will recognise as Emperor Palpatine from Star Wars.

The Lost City Of Z is headed for Irish cinemas some time in 2017.
