The setting looks all very green and melodramatic – it’s the perfect scene to drop an Irishman into.

A new movie due out this summer called Hampstead sees Diane Keaton play an American widow who stumbles across Brendan Gleeson’s shack-dwelling recluse.

Gleeson’s character, Donald Horner, has lived quietly in a shack on the Heath for seventeen years but now his home and lifestyle are under threat from property developers who want to build luxury apartments on the land.

Emily Walters (Keaton) offers to help him fight the threat and, as you’d expect, romance comes a-flutterin.

It’s all very cheesy but heck maybe a simple rom-com is what we need in these trying times.
